Quiz - Serial Numbers do exist

What was the year of manufacture of the following?: Model Part No. Serial No. AC 712 1600076 002381 AC 710 1690215 003226 AC B-110 ? 065722 Simp. 7112 1590473 003727 I can find the range of years from the detailed parts lists on our web site. But do records exist, in any publication, regarding what range of SN's were produced when? Happyjack makes a point that at the time of sale the dealer does not refer to current year or previous year of manufacture - its not in their best interest. But the serial numbers are on the tractors and must mean something of record regarding manufature date. BTW - it looks from my list of SN's that I have early models except for my B-110. I guess they made a **it load of those !!! Any help appreciated. I should of stated at least the years of tractors that didn't have serial #'s "but" I didn't as you know. I also should not of assumed that we were talking about the earlier made tractor's. My 3212 which was made in I beleive 1970 does have a serial # on it but I was going by the earlier tractors. This is not a cop out by any degree and there fore I stand corrected as the later made tractors do indeed have serial #'s well if the sticker is still on the tractor at least it will. Thanks and sorry for any misleading information->happyjack<-

In my experience, the serial numbers do exist. The problem is that I've found no way to use them to identify when a product was made. Simplicity has said that they have no record of production by serial number for a given model year, or if so, it is no longer available or can be provided. Perhaps some of the older dealerships may have such info lurking on their shelves, similar to the application guides that Bob Tiarks and Dave Christensen have provided from the early 80's.... I certainly WISH I had such info.

I will probably be corrected but I think the S/N had more to do with parts books references such as a prior to and effective with scenario. I scanned a portion of the parts book to validate my point. I will forward it to Kent and he can fit it in if his wishes. http://www.simpletractors.com/images/bob_tiarks_post.jpg
