Squire Applegate Tiller Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was visiting my elderly neighbor yesterday who has a collection of loads of tractor and small engine "treasures" in all sorts of dis-repair and we got to talking about garden tillers. I asked if he had any leads on a rear tine Troybilt and instead he offers me a basket case "Squire Applegate" front tine tiller. Has anyone heard of this unit and where could I get more info on it? It has a replacement B&S Vertical shaft engine (model 90782)((aux drive perpendicular to drive shaft??)) which barely turns over. It says forward and Reverse but is missing the end of the control rod. One main pulley is hooked up to the tine transmission. Looks like a 2nd pulley above the main is missing from the engine shaft. How would this reverse the transmission? Who and when were these relics made? Any help or leads would be appreciated? Should I donate it to the landfill or is it worth restoring?
