Mike 0 Posted November 9, 1999 On a 7112 (I don't have a book) is there a Crankcase Breather Valve or Filter? I seem to have a lot of blow by coming out of the oil filler tube. What could be the problem. I don't have blue smoke so I don't think its rings but .... Any thoughts? Tuffy
Guest Posted November 9, 1999 IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BREATHER TUBE FROM THE CRANKCASE MAY HAVE A SPLIT OR CLUGGED UP, THIS SHOULD GO IN THE AIR CLEANER ON THE CARB,,WORTH A CHECK ON IT GERRY
Guest Posted November 9, 1999 Also check the dip stick seal for leakage. If it slides out easily or is damaged it could also cause crankcase pressure, as could a leaky seal, crankcase or pan gasket or faulty breather also. The Kohler breather uses both a fiber screen and spring reed type valve.
dlcentral 1 Posted November 10, 1999 Sounds to me like your top compression rings are worn or weak allowing compression[blow-by] to leak down into the crankcase, hence the 'steam'coming out of the fill tube. The crancase filter is located under the carb. behind that tin plate with a single nut holding it on.But I don't think that's your problem,Probably needs new rings. Also the fill tube is supposed to have an o-ring on it to seal it!. dlc
