Picture Post & Steering Wheel

Kent, Thanks for the picture posts in the Gallery. Regarding the steering wheel. Its mounted 180° out of position to provide clearance to open the hood. Makes it a lot easier. Also, with the corners, where the wheel rim sector is missing, of wheel rim toward the front they make handy handles to rest your hands and provide a convenient lever for fast/hard steering. You may not have noticed but on the B-1 I also have a cable pulley installed below the lift lever to pick up the mower deck. The lift cable is center mounted on the mower deck. Works a lot better than the original factory mower lift lever link. Thanks again, Roy

Roy, The steering wheels on my B12 and B10s are mounted with the open area in the back toward the seat. I know this is the original position on the B12. The hood comes off fine but you must turn the open part of the steering wheel over the battery to get the battery out of the tractor. I think battery removal was the reason for the cutout on the wheel. On the B112 the steering wheel is higher so it does not get in the way when removing the battery. Tim

Roy thanks for the pictures. I really wanted a picture of your new tractor. I think I'm going to get one of those tachs as I'm always wondering what the engine is doing. talk to you later! Jim.

On Indy and Formula 1 cars, they have the tops of the wheel cut off so they don't stick up and interfere with the aerodynamics, and so the driver can see over the wheel better. Maybe its the same on the tractor? :)

Ron, I think you hit on the real reason I have the cutout wheel section on top. My B-1 is so fast I needed to lower the wind resistance! Roy
