AC C

Does anyone have, keep or know much about these tractors? My dad has several...two with mowers on them, one with a tiller and one with nothing yet. Has a cultivator, but not on anything. The only modification is a bucket seat (more comfy! lol). They're used regular mowing and all. Said he might sell one but wasn't sure. All have been redone...good paint, run. What's a fair price? Is the tiller attachment readily available? (That is, are they easy to find?)

Hi Jan, check out this site. You should find quite a few representative machines that will give you an idea of price. At link, scroll down slightly and click on view ads. http://www.tractorshed.com/cgi-bin/photoads/classifieds.cgi

A good running, restored C will go for around $1500. I've seen them bring much more and much less, but this figure is probably around average. The C was basically a narrow front version of the popular B Allis Chalmers. Engine has around 12 hp. The model C was replaced by the CA, which has significantly more hp (around 22hp), and had the snap coupler hitch as an option. The C is a good little tractor and popular with collectors. DaveM

I believe the C and the CA had the same engines and horsepower rating, but the CA had a 4-speed tranny, hand clutch like the WD, and snap coupler hitch. The C had only a 3-speed tranny. CA might also have had live hydraulics, but I'm not sure.

Hi Jan, here's one you can watch to see what it goes for. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2317685636&category=20544

Short I understand they aren't common. I *know* they do exist cause my dad has one. But was thinking of the idea of buying one of his other ones...and finding a tiller but that may be way more difficult than it seems! He also has 2 cultivators...one is little more than parts but there's one good cultivator there. And one has a mower deck on it...don't know the size but the 2 mowers he has mow several acres a week. Just looking at ways to use it if I buy it from him. :-)
