Roto Tiller Question?

I'm thinking about building a rear mount tiller from scratch. Does anyone know the total reduction required between the BGB and the tiller shaft? Can anyone give me a list of all the pulley/sprocket sizes from the BGB to the tiller shaft? I'd like to know before I start, so that I won't have to buy a bunch of extra pulleys/sprockets to get the tine speed right.

Can't tell you what all the pulley sizes are without measuring. Plus, I'm running an older B-series tiller with the double-pulley tiller drive. The newer ones have different drives. But, I can tell you that the tiller is designed for 175 RPM at 3000 RPM engine speed, per this spec sheet. http://simpletractors.com/attachments/tiller_specs.htm EDITED TO CORRECT MY ERROR -- THANKS BUNKY!

What is the difference? It means 175 RPM tine speed @ 3000 RPM engine speed. Thanks Kent. This is exactly what I needed to know. I can figure it from there.

Kent, Your post above says 3000, which is what confused me. I now see that you changed it. Guess I didn't read far enough. My mistake.

a7117puller
redneck it!, stock small pto pulley from tractor, to big pulley on tiller, belts are more forgiving than chains. just take er easy skimming the surface on hard untouched ground on first couple passes, goin to deep at full rpm sends you to the races:))good luck on your project!

Adam, It is just an idea. I currently have so many projects that it would probably take two years to complete them if I was retired and had all day to work on them. Got to finish my AC712S, finish painting my sickle bar mower and hook it up on the 61 Wards, then get started on building my front end loader. After that, I need to rebuild a trailer for the tractors, and build the hitch for my bottom (turn) plow. Roto tiller would fall behind all of these. Planning and scrounging up parts takes time. I am planning to retire in 3-5 years. Want to sell current place in subdivision and get more land. It is then that I will need all of this equipment. It is now, however, that I can scrounge up time to collect and build these items. Don't even have a garden now, of course it would be handy for wife's flower beds.
