Well I put the rear counter weight on my 3410S but it makes it lift harder.. Isn't supposed to help witht he lifting of the front attachment.. When I go to lift my bucket ont he front of my Tractor the rear weight also comes up making the thing lift twice as hard... Isn't this Backwards?????

Yes, it's backwards. If you have cable lift, change the cable to the opposite side of the lift cross-shaft...

Kent and Maynard, I'm not sure, but I don't think you can reverse the cable to operate that way on the 3400 and 7000 series. Didn't that start with the 7100 series? ? Pat

The 3300 was the last of the counter-balanced front/rear lift tractors. I'm getting ready to put the 7114 together and will be changing it over to be counter-balanced. I know I've seen how to do it before, but thanks for the link....

Pat, I don't know for sure which tractors you can do this on. I've never worked on a 3400 series, but I think the 7016 that I parted out (to get my Sundstrand) had arms on both sides of the cross-shaft. But, I'm not sure...

yes i think you can on the 7000 seires because the 38" rotatiller book i down loded was made in the 7000 seires area and showed switching the cable over.

Well I just peeked under there on my 3410 but it doesn't look like it's capable of 2 different positions...

I crawled under my 716-6 over the weekend, and unfortunately the cross shaft looks like the picture below, not like the shaft shown in Maynards posting. I wonder if the shafts are of similar size and length? Like maybe swapping out shafts would allow using counter weights?

Greg, where is your current lift cable connected? Looks like between #16 and the one to the left of it, you might be able to get the desired effect.

Well I wanted to use my Counterweight on my 3410 to help lift my bucket (my version of the J.Bucket) I will have to look under closer..and see what alternatives there will be...

I can't say for certain, but from the looks of it, that lift shaft looks a lot like the one in my 3310 except it's installed backwards!!!!! The right end has the small arm right above #20(for the mower deck), the electric lift attaches to the #16 arms, and the rear lift attaches to the other arm, except the rear lift rod has a clevis on it that straddles a single arm.

Kent, I have a lift cable on order at my local dealer, still available just haven't picked it up yet. Just trying to figure out how it is supposed to work. As far as the cross shaft position, as Kirk noted above, mine also seems to be installed reversed. The Picture I posted from the parts list shows the single arm used for the mower deck on the drivers left of the tractor. My cross shaft is installed with the single arm on the drivers right side. The mower deck lift point is just off center towards the drivers right side of the deck. The cross shaft on my 718H is installed the same way (not like the picture) But it looks like the one Maynard posted. Does any one know which is as designed or as built? the manual or as they are installed?

Doug, Since the lift point on the mower deck is on the driver's right side, it appears that the illustration you posted is wrong... ?
