Hood Colors?????

I have a 3410S it has a repainted white hood... Lately I have seen a 4041 and other simplicity's with a light gray hoods Are these originally Gray???? If so what models were originally gray???

Simplicity used a light gray paint (instead of off white) for a short time in the early 70's.
