Brinly cultivators

I have not had very good experience with these cultivators: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16922 It seems as though the shovels are too vertical. They do not seem to have the suction to pull the cultivator into the ground to do a proper job. Had to use a lot of weight to get it into the ground, then it pulled pretty hard. I heated the shanks and angled them about 15 - 20 degrees to increase the suction. It helped a lot, but still wasn't to my liking, so I sold it. Has anyone else noticed these problems? Pat

Pat, I have one just like it and I use it on my Simplicity 2012 without any problems. Mine is used for laying off rows in the Spring. I have it extended wide enough to allow my tiller to go between the rows. Afterward, I put the other shovels on it and use it to cultivate about 2" deep to help with weed control. I use a light down pressure from the hydro and it works great. David

Pat you know where you can get the best cultivator! Going to try and seed today if it isn't too wet yet. Frost is keeping everything wet. Have a good one
