I have an opportunity to purchase a Soverign 7117 with Kohler KT 17 Series II, hydro drive and hydro lift. Are there any particular things I should watch for with this model? Thanks

I've got one, and I love it. It's a real workhorse. If I had to come up with a complaint, it would be that it cuts the grass a little shorter than I would like, even at its highest setting. I can't go above about 2-1/2 inches or so. I used mine year 'round (grass and snow) for two years now, and I haven't had any serious problems. I know the original owner, and he used it to cut a LOT of grass for 23 years before I bought it.

I bought mine from a well respected outfit 1,200.00. but it only lasted 2 years and i only have a half acre. The kohlor rods came apart and it was not low on oil. thats bout it. She sits while i try to get the onan repaired that i bought for 291. and paid 245. for shipping.(broken foot on base). then fitted to the 7117 ,The fun is over. Im back to the push mower while im laid off.

Here is a link to a good article about buying a used tractor from this website: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/articles/sam_used_check.htm PS. A 7117 in Miami, FL? It just seems like such a waste! No snow to blow, no topsoil to till, and the grass is all burnt out! Plus, who wants to mow when the beach is so close?

got triplets of the 7117, 2 for cuttin grass with and 1 for pullin. love those tractors. just use SAE30 oil in the motor-maintain the machine, and dont abuse it, and it will last you a longggg time.

I bought the 7117. Now I have to make arrangements to ship it to Miami. That's going o be expensive!! No choice, though. Premium garden tractors are almost impossible to find in Florida.
