Lawn mower race

A friend of mine picked up a lawn mower for free that he plans on entering into a backyard lawn mower race with some guys. They agreed on a spending limit of $250. Its my understanding that he got a deutz-allis 11hp Briggs with the heavy duty rear-end. It was parked in running condition 3 years ago but the deck was shot. I'm just wondering what are some of the tricks are to get these thing to move. I'll try to get more info on what can and can't be done but right now I think its anything goes as long as its under $250.

If its anything goes,put a larger pulley on the engine that drives the tranny.Might also want to limit the front axle pivot if you have alot of cornering to do.Could also pull govenor off and run her till she's just ready to blow.:D
