    1960 Simplicity 700

I am the second owner, and I have only changed one thing when these pictures were taken, and that is I put the center cap on the steering wheel. 700s didn't come from the factory with center caps.

    Model Number: 990168

    Serial Number: 8001

One thing: models 990168 were manual start, I believe this tractor had electric start added at the dealer. As you can see this tractor doesn't have an ammeter, which a 990169 model (electric start 700) would.

Please excuse the temporary gas tank, the original one had crud in it, but I just had to drive it when I got it home!

This tractor had been sitting in the corner of the PO's garage since the mid 90's! He used this until he got a SunStar 20 w/ 60" deck.

I like all the pictures you posted of your 1960 , model 700  /  I see your serial # is

    8001/   I'm looking to where I copyed mine /  it's  6212   / I paid too much ($300)

and then after unloading it  I inspected the  engine  ( the piston )  doesn't

move when I turn it over, so the engine connecting rod "is",  unhooked, I guess.

It was a  1 owner but the grandson  I think  overheated it/  could be mouse

nest and crud  that needs cleaned off before he messed with it .  I''ll pull the

engine  make it a winter project.  Behind the seat the serial number plate

fell right off  as I  must of touched it while reading it. I' m lucky to have

found the # still with it.   some new owners will never know or only that

    its within 3 years   1960
